More than 100 people participated in the conference ‘Responding to hate crimes. A challenge for local administrations and civil society’, organised in the meeting room in the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, to analyze how to respond to hate crimes.
Representatives from the local Police force from different councils, administrations and organizations, shared information and debated about how to attend victims and stop the increase of hate.
The participants around the table were: Oriol Amorós (Secretary of Equality, Migration and Citizenship of the Generalitat of Catalunya), Joan Antoni Quesada (president of the Association
of the Heads of local Police Commandments in Catalunya), Edoardo Bazzaco (Coordinator of the TOGETHER! Project in Catalunya), SOS Racisme, moderated and presented by Lorena Antón of SOS Racisme.
The objective of the day was to present the results of the project TOGETHER!, to reflect on
the importance of the collaboration between administrations and civil society to fight against
these crimes and share good practices, focusing on the improvement of the capacities of
these actors to recognise hate crimes and attend to those who suffer them.
